I'm a new user of Revit Structure. I understand the basics of the program. One of the things I don't understand are families. Making families to be exact. Is there anyone who can explain to me how I can make families? I prefer an easygoing explanation, because I'm not to familiar with all the terms.

I don't think you could explain how to create each specific kind of family in a forum post. The capabilities of Revit families make dynamic blocks in ACAD look like cave drawings. Pretty much everything you put on your sheets, drafting views and model views is a family or has a family associated with it.

Id say the best starting off point is to go over the family editor chapters of the tutorials and go from there. It will go over the basics of how parameters work and how to apply them, where the family templates are located and for the most part what templates to use for your needs so you don't do something like make a stamp for your title block using a detail component template and it doesn't work how you want because you should have used the Generic Annotations template. Another good tip is to go into the stock families (maybe back them up first) and see how they are put together. That helped me alot when I made my 1st few 3d families.

Definitely step through the tutorials. There are so many concepts to cover - way too much for a forum post.
