View Full Version : Rooms Overlapping at Level - Furniture Schedule Problems

We are using furniture schedules for our project. While working on it, we noticed that a specific type of chair was listed in our Meeting Room that we know is not in that room. The family is just a plan view of symbolic lines. As it turns out, the upper limit of the room was set to the second floor, so it was scheduling the chairs from the Classroom located directly above the Meeting Room with the Meeting Room. I set the upper limit offset to -4" (the depth of the metal deck) and everything is fine now. It makes sense, but it still seems kind of quirky, has anyone run into this before, and what's the best way to set the upper limits for rooms?

I think the problem is that while rooms are able to detect walls and columns etc. as room bounding thay can not detect the Roof, floor or ceiling objects. This means you must manually set the upper limit of the room (which means the room must also be flat topped, so no use for sloped ceilings!) With this in mind it makes sense that if the room upper limits extend into the room above it may pick up furniture in that space because the 2D object is co-planar with the top of the room.

Hopefully this will change in the future.
