Total Length in Material Takeoff

Why can I not calculate the total length in a material takeoff? It can't be that hard can it??

Not sure what the reason is. You can in a wall schedule, for instance.

There is a workaround, though. Create a calculated value field, with it's formula being the parameter (i.e. length) you need to total. The calculated value field can be totaled, and you can make the original length field a hidden field if you don't want to see both.

I was hoping to use this to counteract Revit's inability to schedule wall lengths (exterior face) correctly. If I could takeoff the length of masonry brickwork....
