It seems that Revit is still really lacking when it comes to dealing with images. We often use images for our site plans, (even when CAD is available becasue the civil guy strips all of his notes, ect from the CAD copy). I have noticed that Revit really bogs down. The image files are big, but I can use the same file with acad without a problem.

Another thing that there needs to be is a scale and align tool like there is in acad. This is important even for tracing over the designer's floor plans. In acad I scan the image in (it is always going to be skewed and out of scale) then I use the acad align tool to scale it and align it based on an actualy dimension along an actualy line.

I don't think there is such a tool in Revit and it should be one of the basic ones for CAD

actually I just found out that if I import an image into acad and the scale it and align it, it will come in correctly when I import the acad file...that is a work around for now, but it would still be nice to do it without acad.

You can do it in Revit, it's just arse backwards from acad. Set your view scale to match the image's (or what you think it is). Set up a couple of reference planes at a known distance in the image, and strech the image to match.

It takes a few attempts, but I've had good luck getting very close on the scale.

As far as big images bogging down Revit, I agree. I tend to use the image for what I need, & then turn it off or delete it.

You can even do it by measuring between fixed points on the image and then typing in zoomed up or down sizes in the image's properties. I have found this the best route but you need to work out a little bit of maths.
