Attention news.revit.com (alt.cad.revit) users:

The news server NEWS.REVIT.COM is moving to a new server tonight, July 18th, at 4 pm PDT (7 pm EDT).

This will require re-pointing the name NEWS.REVIT.COM to the new IP address of the server. You may experience issues connecting to NEWS.REVIT.COM over the weekend while the DNS records are updated throughout the Internet. Updates to existing DNS records can take up to 24 hours for the name to fully propagate.

In the interim, you’ll be able to access the newsgroup by IP addresses instead of name.

Please use the following IP addresses :

new location of NEWS.REVIT.COM

144.111.4.210 if you are on the Autodesk intranet

132.188.4.210??? otherwise (external users)

old location of NEWS.REVIT.COM (still available)

216.168.3.44 if you are on the Autodesk intranet

64.14.86.166 otherwise (external users)

After move, the newsgroup’s postings will be relayed to other news servers and eventually available via various Internet providers (e.g. via Google groups). Please note that all postings with attachments won’t be relayed and will be accessible only on NEWS.REVIT.COM.

Has the server ever come back for people or is it dead. I can not access it at all no matter how I try.

Its working for me. I heard they had a 15 minutes outage, and then everything was back to normal.

I used to access the newsgroup directly via a web browser. That does not seem to work any more. If you go to Autodesk Revit's support/discussion groups and select Revit via a web browser, it's still broken.

I can just now get to the newgroup throught the web browser. The customer files area is still not working even though I am getting something when I try it instead of nothing.
