With the new layer isolate where you now have options to fade, turn off, etc... Anyhow, if I layer isolate through a viewport, I can not use the layer previous command. Anyone know why this behavior is happening and how to correct it? Thanks much.

Does LAYUNISO do what you expect?

Layer previous (LAYERP) is working fine for me when I use LAYISO through a viewport. The only thing I noticed that was a little strange was if I isolate layers through a viewport, then switch to the model tab I had to execute LAYERP twice.

If that is not working for you, LAYUNISO should work. It is on the Layer II toolbar in 2008.

The layuniso does work for me through a viewport, but why doesn't the old command that comes on the layer 1 toolbar next to the layers pulldown? It always has before. Maybe I should just replace that button with the one from the layuniso?

That would be the layerp command.

LAYERP and LAYUNISO are different commands that do different things.

Seems to me, one if an express tool and one is just an acad tool. Seems ADesk is doing away with express tools. Anothing example would be the lman deletetion.

Both LAYERP and LAYUNISO are core AutoCAD commands. LMAN was finally killed because of the existance of LAYERSTATES

LAYERP = simply acts as a single "undo" with respect to layer status.
LAYUNISO = restores the "_LAYISO_STATE", created by LAYISO

The difference can be illustrated by drawing 3 entities on 3 different layers (layers 0, 1, 2)
Run LAYISO and pick the entity on layer 2.
Now manually turn on layer 1.
Now run LAYERP - layer 1 turns back off
Now run LAYUNISO and all three layers come back.

Shades of Undo vs Oops.
