When trying to SAVE/SAVE AS/SAVE TO CENTRAL I am receiving the error:
There is not enough space on drive C: to create the temporary files that Revit needs. Either free up space on this drive, or redefine Windows user variable TMP to be a folder on another drive with more space.
There is over 100GB available on the C: drive. I do not have another drive on which to change the TMP to. I'm curious if anyone has seen this error and/or if anyone has any ideas of how to deal with it.
I would prefer not to lose the work I have just completed.

It could be more complicated than your C-drive alone, since the STC process does this last. Questions: Are you getting any other messages about memory warnings? What are the specs on your computer? Is the PC partitioned possibly with Revit and other Programs on a different partition?

Have you enabled the 3g switch. I think this is refering to your Page file filling up. Basically as you work on revit, revit gets assigned a page file, by default the max this can be for any app. is 3g, revit will get there quickly on worksets jobs. so to avoid this you need to enable the 3gig switch. do a search and you will find how to do this.

Yes if you have the RAM use the switch mentioned in this thread, ... if not get the Ram.
This below was very helpful with our file saving - our files are over 80,000 kb to 190,000 kb
We also set up our virtual memory - go to system properties, open advanced tab, open preformance options tab, write down your existing settings. Set up virtual memory to custom - initial size - 4096, max size 10240
My system is
XP service pack 2
3.60 GHZ Xeon CPU
3.25 Gig Ram
Our network is all Gigabite cables and hardware - just updated for Revit file sharing on our new Raid server. Big Bucks $$$$ were invested - yikes there goes my bonus this year!!
Good luck

We have had a similar problem even though we use the 3 GB switch and our hardware exceeds spec. We filed a support request and suggest you do the same.
We did have success saving the user's changes by using the following method. I can't guarantee it will work for everyone, but it has saved us a couple of times.
1. Close the user's file without relinquishing.
2. Copy the file to another PC.
3. Change the username on that PC (Settings>Options>Username) to the one from the first PC.
4. Open the file and save to central, and relinquish. Close file and set the username back to original name.
5. Restart the original user's PC. Create a new local file.
Users who are restarting Revit a couple of times a day are seeing this error less often than users who leave the program open all day (even overnight in some cases).
Hope this helps,

This is very true, managing the session time can prevent a lot of memory errors. Additionally, you can mitigate memory issues by doing the following:
Close hidden windows.
Close unnecessary Worksets.
Reload Latest, Save Local, then STC.
Also, file size is relevant, but links are more relevant. The file size can be very small, but with a bunch of linked RVT files, the PC will struggle regardless.
