i used to love revit .. people would start talking about drafting software and BIM"S and i would praise the word brotha and sista

but having been doing a great deal of site stuff i'm less the happy now,

a big beef and question that has come up is with the points .

i hope its something simple that one of you more experienced ppl can help me with.

here we go..

why are there two different types of points ( bondary and interior ) when you're editting a topo suface. but when you are creating one there is only the option to have one type of point ??

is there a button of option somewhere that i'm missing ? i'm using Revit Architecture 2008.

revit makes great buldings .. just don't expect the same performance with doing site stuff.

No button that you're missing. Points created inside the topo will be interior points, and those placed on or outside the edge become boundary points.

The two different kinds of points show up separately in the Filter dialog - can be useful when editing a topo, when you've split out a hole in the topo, and now want to have that fill in again - just select the boundary points and delete.

but i wish you could have more control with the points when you put them down.

when you put points down you're esentially making a big ameoba after a awhile . it doesn't really take a form . just triangulates with the points .

for example . what if the toposurface i wanted to make was like a big " C" revit by default will close it out and make it an big o ( or ameoba) it's not till you can go back and split surface that you can acheive this.
