Filled Regions on Interior Elevations w/ 2 1/2 D objects

Within an interior elevation:
I'm trying to create a wall tile pattern with a filled region but I cant send the pattern behind the 2 1/2 D family I've created. How do I either create a masking region within the 2 1/2 D object or within the filled region to wipe out the tile where the family member is so that only the tile around the 2 1/2 D object is visible?

If you're doing the tile pattern with a filled region, can't you edit the pattern and create an interior border at the edges of your object?

Add a filledregion (detail component) in your 2 1/2D family.
