I am not sure how stairs connect at the top riser to the floor systems, or even if they do. I understand that I can fix the look in section with a 'filled region' but I assume there is a medthod with modeling. Can anyone help?

Is this a realy dumb question or can you connect stairs to levels?

Stairs are drawn with properties from level to level. Base Level/Top Level. You can set the top and bottom to be anything you want, but the stair will have to grow or shrink depending on the rise/run rules you established.

If you look at the attachment you will see that the stair did not draw the last riser and/or attach it to the slab. that's my problem.

I had the same problem before and i think this only occurs for monolithic stairs. I managed to do some work around on this problem.

1) To draw additional riser at the top most part of the stairs then make sure to close the boundary. The only draw back is that this might not be your design intent as the first riser below will not be aligned with your last riser above anymore.

2) To increase your max riser height (in your case say make it 8") then reduce the actual number of risers by 1 (in your case from 35 to 34). This is some sort of forcing to increase the riser height to cope up with the gap.

There might be some other ways from the GURUS

I'm glad that I'm able to help.

This forum is really the best there is in learning Revit. People around here are more than willing to help others.

BTW I myself would like to know if this is really a problem for monolithic stairs? As far as I can remember I already raised this issue in 5.1 and did the same work around.

Have you try to change the value of the option "finir avec contremarche : finish with riser" ?
(I don't know the real name of the option in English but look at the picture you will recognize it)

That won't work with monolithic stairs even if you toggle "end with riser" on and off.

I really think this is a problem with monolithic stairs.

I found the toggle and its was set to on. The idea was good but it doesn't work in the situation. I could always add a beam at the top which would work but its not chamfered like the stairs. Maybe I could add a sweep to the landings but have not had the time to try or look at other options.
