I'm having a really tough time figuring out how to set up a room schedule.
for some reason or another I'm un able to get the room schedule to show the room area . Instead it's showing " not placed " even tho in the schedule it's showing the room number and the room name. I've made sure that everyting is on the same phase and I havn't initiated worksets yet.
Does anyone know of a alternative tutorial that deals with setting up schedules ?

"Not Placed" means that particular room "definition" (name, number, etc) has not been placed in the model.
Revit allows you to create entries in a room schedule without making rooms in the model. You can then set up your whole Building Program in a schedule, and as you create rooms, you can 'place" the info. By seeing in your schedule those things "not placed' is an indicator that you haven't finished laying out the enitre program.
Not placed also occurs when you place a room, and then deleted it later. It will remain "defined' in the schedule although it may not exists in the model.

I have a nine story building and have had no trouble with the room schedule until today- I was tightening up some of the room defiinitions like giving a room tag to a closet or toilet off of an office and that was fine but my schedule is not picking up these changes- what gives? I thought they were joined at the hip.

Look in the model to see if for some reason your rooms have lost their association. You may have made some change to your building envelope or your floor that broke the association of your rooms. I had this happened on a recent project when I adjusted some of my exterior curtainwall to offset 1/2" at the base so I could add sealant in my sections. You may also want to check your room and area settings to see at what height it is using to detect your room boundaries
