OK, I'm fairly new to the Revit universe and have found this discussion board very helpful on a number of topics. So here is my issue:

I've attached my .rfa of a Water Source Heat Pump. My specific issue is with the pipe connectors. I've set the Hydronic connections to preset, which from my understanding means that piping I connect to the unit will "inherit" the flow rate I specify for that particular instance.

When I place this in my project and attach my supply and return piping I see under the element properties for the piping that the flow rate is 0 GPM. I also went and added shared parameters of Flow and Pressure drop under the Family Types. I can enter the flow rate and pressure drop here but the information doesn't seem to carry over to the piping.

And I notice that when I insert the unit into my project, flow is grayed out so I can't enter the flow rate.

I've obviously missed a step or assigned the wrong type of parameter to the family. My goal is to be able to insert the unit then enter a flow rate and pressure drop for that unit, which will "propogate" to the hyronic piping systems I connect it to.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like the flow is "Preset" to 0.

You have a Flow Rate instance parameter that is also 0 by default. My guess is that you will place the equipment in the plan and set the Flow Rate in the element properties. To make this work you will have to link the Flow in the connector to the Flow Rate parameter. Click the tiny little box on the right edge of the Flow row then select your family parameter Flow Rate and then ok. Now the Flow Rate will drive the connector.

Joel,

Thank you very much for responding. It worked. And the sad thing was I hit that little button and saw flow rate but didn't think to highlight it to activate it. Thanks again.
