View Full Version : Does anyone have these "blast from the past" drawings?

Odd question (and I hope this is an OK question to ask since strictly speaking it's Autodesk property) does anyone have copies of the OLD AutoCAD sample files? Like the old 2D Nozzle, Space Shuttle, etc? Perhaps you know where they could be downloaded instead? I'd like to have a collection of "blast from the past" files. These used to be the old standards, the files EVERYBODY who used AutoCAD in the early (pre-windows) days knew (they often were the only examples you ever saw of drawings from outside your own office). Where could I get them? I likely could ask a collector of old items like Shaan Hurley, but I hate to bother him with something others likely have.
 in advance...

There's a copy of the original (2D) Nozzle drawing here - http://www.macrosport.com/ftp/ACES/Drawings/Roberts%20Data/DWG/

Thanks guys!
EDIT: Wow... the Solar System drawn to scale too... I forgot about that one. I'm looking at these and while I remembered they were simple, I had forgotten just how simple some of these were. Good Memories and thanks again.

How far back do those go? There is always the motorcycle.
I remember thinking it was cool when I took my first cad class "back in the day".
I might have it on floppy somewhere!

I have the "AutoCAD Bonus CD" for R12 (see image below).
It has probably all the drawings you are looking for... But unless I get an OK from Adsk (or Shaan) - I'm not going to post them. Don't want to get in any trouble...
I've also posted a JPG of pretty amazing drawing that is on this CD. It's true 3D, just like it looks in the JPG image of it. The amazing part? The JPG is 19,509 bytes, and the DWG file itself is only 16,732 bytes.
Just opening this drawing in 2008 and saving it to 2007 DWG format makes it grow to 206,208 bytes - over 12X larger.

How far back do those go? I don't remember the motorcycle (and didn't see it there) but those drawings go back to the late 80's & early 90's. The classic "tablet" drawing was there too... talk about your memories, using the tablet was it (I remember customizing that drawing/tablet for a job I had doing electrical work...)
I vaguely remember a 3d motorcycle, I think it was in R13 or R14.
Ahhh memories....:Puffy:

There was a2d drawing of a motorcycle - could it have been an "Indian Chief"?
It had a highly decorated fuel tank as I recall.

That is the one. When I took my first cad class, the entire class thought that was
the greatest drawing ever. One of my classmates made a print and hung it up on the wall.
