If I had my druthers, this wouldn't be an issue...but since we still live with CAD consultants...
Masking regions don't export to CAD, and white filled regions are just black blobs in the exported file. Is there any good way to have the CAD output look like what I'm seeing in Revit where a masking region and the model interface?
Thanks in advance.

eh?
Masking regions should export just what you see on the screen. If something is hidden, the Revit work in that area is erased. If the region has a linework - that linework is exported.
All other masking regions are just hatch patterns.
What is it that you expect as output?

That's what I expected to be the output to Autocad, but that's not what I'm getting. See image.
I'll try upgrading (I'm currently on 20070324_1700) and see if that's the issue....
Thanks,

Yeah don't use White Filled Regions...they are a "solid" hatch pattern which will be a solid hatch in ACAD and print as a black blob as you already found.
Use the Masking Region tool on the Drafting Tab of the Design Bar which will export correctly to DWG and DWF.

Here's a better image.
Scott,
What's got me is that your description of masking regions is NOT my experience. When exported to CAD, the masking region doesn't seem to translate. It's as if the masking region was never there. I've diddled with how I'm exporting, etc. and can't seem to figure out what the difference is between what you're describing and my experience. Any further suggestions would be great.
Also, are you saying things like filled regions should be transparent and a masking region used to hide the model to avoid crummy outputs?

i am having the same issue. masking regions in Revit (2008 ) are not exporting to AutoCAD. the tag with the mask (an ellipse in this case) exports as just a plain ellipse, with no fill or masking region. could it have something to do with the fact the ACAD only wants to create new masking regions with a polyline? (although, my polygonal revit tags with masking regions don't export to ACAD either. they export as blocks made up of individual lines.)
has anyone found a solution to this issue.

This is still an issue and I am wondering what people are doing to work around since there is no solution. I found that replacing the mask region or filled region seems to fix it but on a large project that could take quite a long time. What is making some filled regions not to export and others to? Same with masking regions. These are not exporting properly. Anyone have any better solutions?

I just did an export from RAC 2010 sp2, no problems. Despite all of the effort wasted on the stupid UI update the Factory does in fact manage to add and fix things with each release. I submit that a two release back version (almost three now) of Revit might be an issue. ;)

I'll take that one step further and say the issue was still not resolved in 2009. We still have the issue in 2009, but not 2010.

Thanks for the replies. We are also still on 2009 as a whole but 2010 slowly coming into the picture. I will take a look at that.
