In a u-shaped stairin section, is it possible to show the stair profile (hidden line) beyond the stringer?

If you set your view to wireframe, then use the linework tool , set to hidden line type, and pick each line you want hidden... when you set your view back to hidden line the lines will show as hidden. Unfortunately you do not seem to be able to use the show hidden line tool as the treads/risers and string are part of the same object.
This is quite time consuming, may be just too tedious, perhaps. Anyone else have a better solution?

I think you can use the show hidden line tool for this
you might need to create your stair twice... once for the treads and risers and another for the stringers - if you do it this way I know the hidden line tool will work

If you create your stair stringers as railing objects (in order to make them actual C-channels as they would really be constructed), then the Show Hidden Lines function works perfectly. You pick the stringer railing, and then the stairs, and POW the stairs hidden behind the stringer shows up as dashed lines. :)
