Has anyone ever had their profile layout tab or alignment layout tab be gray (not usable)? I need to remove a PI and I can't. I can modify it by clicking and dragging it, but I can't use the tools on the layout tool bar. I just had it happen with a profile too. Help!

Is this a Civil-3D question?

If so, there has been an odd bug that periodically causes that toolbar to become unusable. Shutting down and restarting C3D fixes it. I believe it is still a mystery as to why or when this happens.

The usage of that toolbar is also a little strange. It actually gets "linked" to a profile or alignment when you right-click a profile or alignment and select "Edit geometry". So sometimes you might have it linked to one profile while you are trying to edit another profile. To keep from getting confused, it helps to close that toolbar as soon as you finish editing an alignment or profile, so you always open it fresh whenever you need it.

Is there still no work around / solution other than restarting Civil 3D? I run into this problem pretty often

It's still an issue in C3D 2015.

Still an issue in 2021.

And for 2022, FWIW.

The only way I've been able to continue - without restarting Civil 3D (and this doesn't always work) - is after the toolbar becomes 'linked to a Profile and no longer works, is to open the toolbar for another Profile (sometimes multiple) before it will 'work' again, then go back to the Profile I was attempting to edit.
