I would imagine that this has been covered before, but is there a way that I can make an angled wall end like a parallelogram instead of a rectangle? I.E. the ends of the wall are still at 90 or 180 degree angles relative to the plan, while the length of the wall is at a 75 deg. angle.

I know about the cut profile tool, but that only does it for a plan. Likewise, I know that you can draw walls to join in this fashion. However I need to basically make a parallelogram-shaped wall that stands on its own, not joined to anything.

Thanks in advance!

I know of a few ways.

One, create an in place wall family. Go to a plan view where you can see the wall. Make a void to cut the wall as desired. Complete the void sketch. Tell the void to cut that wall. Finish the family. Done.

Or, model the gyp (or other finish) as it's own wall separate from the studs. Draw the stud wall layer and ignore the flat cut at the end. Draw the finish layers exactly as you want them. If you join the stud wall to both finish walls doors and windows will automatically cut all three.

Or, David Baldacchino just figured out how to make a wall family template so you can create a wall like you would a door. You loose some of the flexibility and parameters, but you get to make something like you're talking about.

Maybe this needs to go on wishlist.

Where can I find this wall family template?

Yount,

The first option is probably the best and simplest.

Option two is a little more complicated and needs more explanation to the rest of your team.

The third will require quite a lot of knowledge of the program to get it to represent right in plan. You'll have to model material layers on your own, assign the correct subcategories, create your own parameters and some of them may need to be shared in order to schedule if that's needed.

But, if you insist, search the Revit Families forum for Dbaldacchino posts in the last few months with a subject of wall family template or something like that...

Good luck!

Maybe I do not understand your explanation - do you mean parallelogram-shaped wall as viewed in elevation? If so you can use the "Edit Profile" option in an elevation view - this allows you to modify (or override) the perimeter of the wall.
