Vertically compound wall trouble

"Cannot extend layer(s) of the highlighted vertically compound wall."

Anyone know why this occurs when trying to drag the top of a wall (top layers unlocked) to below a floor? The profile of this wall has been edited to include two large openings- which I've come to learn is sometimes problematic.

VCW's are notoriously finicky. It could be a whole number of things. You've done the big naughty and edited their profile instead of using the wall opening tool. You're also unlocking layers of a VCW which is also naughty. Since you've already got a VCW, I'd just add another layer at the correct height that has the layer where you want it instead of trying to drag layers around by instance.
