How to make beams NOT offset

I'm getting very weird results with beam systems. When I place this is offsets all the beams a random distance from the column/wall. Do you know how to make beams ignore walls and columns.?

I'll usually draw everything, go to a 3D view, isolate the beams category, and then change the value to something consistent. I prefer the offset to be something since we rarely weld connections on steel here. Only when we have to. Most of the time we'll have a bolted connections with some angles and not surprisingly there is an offset. I would love to know what logic Revit supposedly uses to define this offset, so if you find out...
