Layer Drop Down not working?

Having yet ANOTHER issue with 08 .... I restarted AutoCAD after my break and the Layer Drop Down only shows the current layer and layer 0 ..... all the layers in the layer manager are not present .... What is the setting to display all layers in the Layer Drop Down?

What shows in the drop down is dependent on what filter you have current in the Layer Manager. Go into Layer Manager and pick the All under the Layer Filters Tree on the left side.

And if you don't want you layer filters to be applied to the layer toolbar you can turn it off in the layer settings.

In the layer properties manager, there's a button at the bottom for settings.

Wow. Would you believe I've never even noticed that being there, much less played with it?!?!?

That's happened to me twice in almost a year. I had to close the drawing and reopen it. Then all the layers are there. I still don't know what caused it.
