I have a hotel tower, 10 floors, 350 rooms. Levels 1-8 are identical, levels 9 and 10 identical. I grouped the typical room plans. If I then group the entire floor level for level 1 and copy that group up through level 8...am I going to regret it? Speaking in terms of model performance.
Thanks.

depends on the amount of info you have per floor and your hardware ... you can always undo

You will have performance issues unless you keep the group very simple and even then you will have issues, especially with area plans and room tags. My recommendation is to take your party walls all the way up on the typical levels and only copy the room up(if you need it for scheduling purposes. then have a group that is just the corridor wall and door drop and entry door, that you copy up too. then add all your furniture, plumbing, ceilings, floor finishes etc just on the typical level.

Area you going to draw every identical floor? The only reason to do this is if you want to schedule every item one-by-one. Otherwise you can save a lot of time by just showing one plan for all the identical floors.... We would do this with typically a ground floor plan (unique). Two typical floor plans and a upper level plan (unique because of stairs to roof typically.) The we would show enlarged room plans for the different room styles. On another sheet we would have plan diagrams (very simple line diagrams) blocking out where each room type goes on each floor.

Aaron, I was considering doing what you are talking about. It seems to make sense and I can think of no reason to draw every floor. I was thinking of showing the two different level plans, enlarged room plans, and then simply model the rooms where I will have sections cutting thru.
Thanks.

We don't even do that. We show demising walls, but keep the building section more abstract.
