Floors not ctting stacked wall

Has anybody noticed that floors do not cut the overlapping volume from a stacked wall, when you finish the floor sketch, you get the message about joining and cutting overlapping volume, but it does not seem to work! Any ideas?

I had a similar result after trying this out but a simple "join geometry" did the trick after the fact...

I thought that join geometry would only clean up this well if the materials were the same.

So my lesson for today is... "Never Assume!" :-)
I also need to practice typing the word 'cutting' several more times!
