More and more, our clients are leaning towards using Face Hosted elements instead of Wall, Ceiling, or Floor hosted, even if they have the Arch model in their file (not linked in). Their reasoning is that they want their elements to remain if the wall, ceiling or floor gets deleted.
Here is the issue:
I am discovering that most Face Hosted elements cannot be placed by the MEP engineer onto a horizontal face unless the View Discipline of the view they are working in is set to Architectural. This can be very annoying :( We shouldn't have to keep switching the view discipline back and forth every time we want to place an element. Coordination View is not an option either, since it does not halftone the architectural model.
I've found this to be true for both custom families and families that come with the software. However, if the project is created using the Mechanical-default template.rte, it seems to work just fine.
Is there some type of project setting, or setting in the template that allows for this?
