missing layout

I have just started a new job, Thursday, I am still getting familiar with the way things are done. I was working on a drawing in model space went the layout to print. And the drawing is basically blank, so all of the viewport are gone etc. Any way to resurect them to thier past state? I know I am probably stating this inarticulately. Sorry for that.

Thoughts -

regenall
find an earlier saved copy of the file
viewports are on a pspace layer that is off/frozen
and viewports are inactive/off
zoom/extents because the working drawing area is off the screen
