In-place Family won't Sort by Level

I've created a mechanical equipment in-place family on a level in a project.

When I create and sort the mechanical equipment schedule by level, this family appears in the schedule but it won't sort by level.

Please advise.

Working from memory... In place families do not know what level they are on, in the sense that if you look at the properties of the in-place family the evel is not shown.

As a rule, avoid using in-place families at all! To create a discreet family takes just a few extra mouse clicks and avoids this and other problems associated with in-place families.

The bad news is that I don't think there is an easy way of converting the in-place into a 'proper' family.

So, bite the bullet and create a new family.

You can copy/paste from the inplace family into the mechanical equipment family.
