I have read many threads here and on other sites and have not yet found what i am looking for. That could be because it doesnt exist :)

Does anyone have a structural column family that allows a angle to be assinged. I have been able to create an angle with a sweep but it isnt constrained to a level. I dont know how to do that. Also, with the column that I have the structural analytical line is vertical, it does not allow an angle. Is there a way to fix that?

Many of the posts I have read were from a few years back. I am hoping something new has been released since then that I am not aware of.

Hi,
I havn't manged to sort out the analytical line yet, I'll re-post if i do.

Cheers

Hey, thanks Anthony.
Within the family, when i change the rack angle to 90, then back to 80 it doesnt work. Thanks for more information to work with though. I wont be able to address this again for a few weeks.

If you don't care about the analytical model you can use a line-based family.

I just came across this problem on a project and came up with this for a solution. I used a solid blend with an offset and level constraints.

Hi, I use a "brace".

Advantages are - easy to place, can be constrained by levels, correct as far as analytical model goes I think.

Disadvantage = appears in framing schedule, not column schedule.

I hope RS2010 will have a sloping structural column buit in?

jwaack,
i just tried your family. it work great but for some reason whne I try to attache an isloated footing it end up way above the column.
