dormer circular reference????

ok i have a dormer placed above the main roof the walls are extended to level 1 and the roof is joined. i then selected the openings->dormer opening. goes into sketch mode.i then select the walls and roof joint and select finish sketch.

then ERROR - circular reference with highlighted wall ( this is not the exact message but i am not near a computer with revit right now to duplicate the message) i click show and all it shows is the main roof in orange.

help please! im getting frustrated.

That's weird. Make sure when you are in the sketch mode ready to select the dormer opening in the roof, pick (or select) the interior lines of the roof and dormer walls, so you can have a union point between the main roof and the dormer.

i figured it out i used join geometry not the roof join tool.
