Does anyone know why when in 3D view, the "middle mouse" button that is used to zoom in and out sometimes will switch to scrolling up and down on the "page"??? If i close out of the 3D view and re-open it, it's back to zooming in and out. But it's a little frustrating. Any Advice??

Perhaps it is the "zoom about mousepoint" feature. Are you rolling the mouse wheel while the cursor is near the top or bottom of the view?

No. It seems to just be kind of random. Back to that "zoom about mousepoint" comment tho. Is there a way to "rotate about mousepoint"???

im getting the same problem, very irritating.

Hold Shift, press the middle button/wheel, and rotate the model to your heart's desire. It will rotate about the center of your model, though, not the mouspoint. If you have one or more elements selected, it will then rotate about the center of those selected elements (helpful when you're zoomed in close to something in a 3D view).

As for your zooming in 3D view, it seems like I vaguely remember something like that happening to me wayyyy back when on an old, old version, maybe 6.1 or 7.x. I can't remember what fixed it. Probably when I replaced my old graphics card or got a new keyboard and mouse or something like that.

It happens when you zoom in using the scroll wheel while still holding the shift key. It happens to me all the time. All you have to do is close the view and re-open it.

This happens to me all the time and I didn't realize what was causing the problem. This makes sense though considering I use the shift middle mouse all the time to rotate the model...

Happens all the time to me, too. Close and reopen the view is all you can do.

If I hold down Shift and scroll the wheel, nothing happens for me. As soon as I let go of Shift, zooming resumes normally.

I've only had it happen in 3D view. Sometimes in a detail view. Never happens in a plan view.
