Exporting views with underlays to cad

I have several views in my project that contain underlays that I need to export to CAD for my consultants. In revit the information on the underlay is grey out while the information on the actual floor is per its object style. But as an example, when I export that view to AutoCAD all of the wall on the floor as well as the ones visible in the underlay all get put on the same layer / color in CAD. Is there a setting I have missed and some sort of work around.

To put Revit Elements on different layers for Acad Export you need to put them
on a different subcategory
unfortunately walls are system families for which you cant assign a subcategory to the whole wall
i can only think of doing two exports one for the underlay an one for the rest
