I'm using Project Navigator in ACA 2008. I've placed a series of out-of-the-box section callouts. I placed them as "callout only". I then select then entire callout and drag & drop it onto the view name in the view drawing I want it associated with. They all worked except for one. I can't get it to marry up with the other drawing so it will display the section number and sheet number. When I first place the tag, it has "viewnumber" and "sheetnumber" in gray because they are fields. But after I drag and drop this one that is not working, the gray goes away. How can I get this tag linked up?

Also, can you have multiple callouts referring to a single view? For instance, if I had a typical detail that I want called out on multiple sheets, but referring to the same detail.

Thanks,

That I know you can do. You can either copy and paste the callout into multiple drawings after it has been linked (it should keep the link with the copy), or create a new callout, and drag and drop it in the PN view tab for the drawing you want to link it to.

As for the callout not linking, did you try reinserting a fresh call out? Also, try deleting the view name under the view drawing, and recreating it. Just open the view, then right click on the view name and choose "new model space view", then when the box opens, type in the name for the view , select the scale, and hit the box to the right to define the view window (draw a window around the section). Then try to drag and drop the call out again. That should work.

I've had the same exact thing happen to me. I found it was because I was moving the mouse too fast. Slow down and it should work. If the grey field is gone you will need to re-insert, move slowly and you should be good. I know it sounds silly, but it works for me...

I've tried both of these suggestions. No luck. Finally, I had to just delete the view off the sheet, recreate the view in the view drawing, redo everything. Big pain!

I have this issue as well. We have a stop-and-start project - everything WAS working - now ALL of the section callouts are pound signs in the views and on the sheets - ????
The Help is no help - because it doesn't mention how to fix this without losing the field.
When it works - it's fabulous - but it doesn't always work....

Once a model space view (which is linked to the callout) is put on a sheet, the sheet view takes control over the name & callout number. Relink the callout to the view on the sheet file.
