lines showing in shademode

I am workiing in AutoCAD 2008. I have modeled a 7 level building w/ lots o steel. When i turn shademode on in any style the 2d lines show through the 3D elements. I have toyed w/ the options in visual style editor and nothing seems to work. little help :)

Use -shademode-->G option or check OBSCUREDLTYPE .

The OBSCUREDLTYPE variable doesn't seem to have made a difference. And there is no G option for shademode in 2008. I'm wondering if its just the sheer number of 3d objects in the drawing (4000 plus). Also they are Cadworx objects.
