Does anyone know where I can file the Structural Profiles? I want to edit the Structural Tee profile... I can't find it.

Are you wanting to edit the actual 3D structural component, or the detail component?

The actual 3D component is not a profile, but rather a family under Structural folder in the Imperial Families folder.

I want to edit the family - I have tried to edit the sweep but a profile was used to create the 3D Family - and I cannot open the profile.

Any thoughts?

When you are in the 3D family and you're editing the sweep, pick on the profile and press the EDIT button on the design bar and it should take you to a sketch mode for the profile.

Humm,... It should but it doesn't.... It shows the outline of the Profile but there doesn't seem to be a way to edit the profile.

Am I missing something?

I am having another problem... the leg of a Precast beam interfers with an adjoining beam at a corner condition. I need to cut a 6x6 corner out of one of the legs. Is there an elegant way of doing this?

For the profile, check in the Browser under Families - Profile. Right-Click and Edit
For the cut you can use a nin-place family to cut it

I think you might be. When you you are editing the tee family, select the sweep and click the EDIT button on the design bar. Now you should...wait a sec.....BRB.

OK, I had to confirm which family your were trying to edit. The structural tee profile is driven by a type catalog. You need to edit the type catalog in order to change the profile in the tee family. It is a .txt file located in the same directory with the same name as the structural tee family.

OOOHHHHH!!! I thought you meant the Precast double tee at first but when you said structural tee it made me think otherwise. Anyway. This is easy.

Once you have opened the family for editing. Go to the design bar and click "Family Types" There is where you'll find all the parameters for the profile. It comes standard with just 2 dbl tees so if you want to add one you just click on the "new" button under family types and adjust the parameters as you see fit.

Since no one seemed to answer your exact question...

The profile doesn't come with the RAC2008 library, only Revit Structure. It would reside in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\RST 2008\Imperial Library\Profiles\Structural\Concrete

If you don't have Revit Structure then you can still open the profile using the method dhurtubise suggested. Just make sure you are in the family editor, and not the project; the profile will only be listed inside the family.

If you only need to change sizes, then take the advice of jmctamney and simpy create new types.
