Opening By Face

I created timbers with a cut end using the Opening By Face command. I am rendering the image and the cuts show as gray (see attached file). I would like them to show up as my timber material. any suggestions?

I think you could paint them with paint bucket.

You can use the paint tool but it's a pain i agree.
If you cut it in the family(read create another family) the material is ok.
I would submit that as a bug

The paint bucket doesn’t work in a perspective view. I guess I will have to fix it in Photoshop.
How do I submit a bug?

But the paint bucket works fine in any 3D view. The changes will then show on your perspective.

Thanks I just realized that. I thought the paint bucket was view specific like filled regions.
