Hello All,

I don't know if this is the right place for this but, here goes.

Working for my dad this weekend, using AutoCAD 2000i, I copied some DXF files from a 3½" disk to the hard drive and opened them in AutoCAD and saved them as DWG files. Then tried to copy the contents into a drawing with a title block and I got the following errors in the JPG labeled "ACAD 1" and after I hit cancel twice I got the Fatal Error as shown in "ACAD 2". It seems like one screen said something about the ACAD.MSI file but I don't remember. :banghead:

Thanks,

David Baker

David,

Did you use the command DXFIN?
And then save the file as MYWORK.dwg?
Try open that titleblock dwg and XREF in the
other. Or perhaps insert the page setup containing
your title block into the file wherein you performed the
DXFIN operation.

Hi David

Please note I've *moved* this thread from the CAD Mgmt. General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=119) Forum to this one as I believe it would be better served here.
Thanks, Mike

Hi

The Acad.msi is the Microsoft® Installer file for AutoCAD, I honestly don't know why you would receive a message that includes Acad.msi when performing the actions you gave in your original post.

Might want to try a repair on your AutoCAD install (wouldn't hurt).

Another thing that wouldn't hurt if it's not already been done, install Service Pack 2 for AutoCAD 2000i (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/index?siteID=123112&id=2334435&linkID=2475161#section103).

Have a good one, Mike

I just clicked OPEN and then switched from DWG to DXF in the "Files of Type" space at the bottom of the OPEN dialog box. (Isn't this the same as DXFIN?) I was able to open my drawing with the titleblock and insert the MYWORK.dwg that was giving me problems. (I know xfef is probably better but I have to keep it simple in case I am not the one working on it). So, this worked for now but I still am going to look in to what service pack is installed on his machine.:screwy:

Thanks for the help,

David Baker
