I am sorta new to revit and i have a question that some might find silly?

When i add a drawing to a sheet it automatically numbers the drawing with the next number(great!) for ex: 6/A6 but if you are not thinking 100% in advance and you realize that 6/A6 really needs to be 2/A6..... i found that you simply can shift them around and re-number them? Unless i am TOTALLY missing something?

I tried double clicking on the drawing title, right clicking on the drawing title, i tried changing it from the tag in the plans. Am i missing something?

Someone at work told me to just erase all the inserted drawings from the point i need down (for instance 2/A6 through 6/A6) and reinsert them into the sheet but that just seems like a GIANT waste of time to me. there has to be a way to renumber them and have the rest of teh project know?

Sorry if this is a lame question!

Select the drawing itself, and the text in the view title tag will turn to blue - which typically in Revit means that you can edit the text directly. Just type in the appropriate number.

EDIT: Select the drawing itself on the sheet.

Right click on the drawing title - last on the list "View Properties..." - in there is the Sheet Number. What can't be done is give it the same number as another view, so numbers have to be changed twice, to free up the number and to use it.

Also as lhanyok said, although it can be a little tricky to select the title to change it by clicking, you have to click the view first, then after click the title; in that order.

Don't EVER listen to whoever is telling you to delete and re-add the Views.
I'll bet they draw a lot of Detail Lines, too. Very Un-Revit!

Here's a few ways to change your detail numbers:

On the Sheet, Click on the BORDER of the View you want to change. Not the title, not the Sheet, but the box that only shows up when your mouse is over the View. Once you click, notice that the Detail Number turns blue. That's your clue. Anything blue is waiting top be changed. Now click on the Detail Number itself, and you'll get a text edit box.
On the Sheet, right-click on the View, then click Activate View. Next, right-click in the View and pick View Properties. The Detail Number is on line 5 of this dialog.
From the Project Browser, right-click on the View that you've placed on the Sheet. Then pick Properties. In the following dialog box, 5 lines down is Detail Number.
From any View that show the Reference Tag, Right-click on the Reference Tag (the detail bubble) and pick Element Properties. Again, line 5Seriously, though, in Revit, you rarely want to delete something and redraw it, whether it's a wall, a door, or a View. Deleting things is a drafting habit because most things in CAD are just dumb pictures. Things in Revit are intelligent objects with information attached to them. If you delete the object, you delete the information, too.

BTW, Welcome to the future. You'll be glad you're here.

Ugh... so easy makes me cringe i knew it would end up being that easy!!! Thank you everyone!!! Sorry for wasting your time. I also found out what you were talking about Dave on tip # 3 before i got to it... (i was testing each point as i was reading)

Thank you for the help i am actually going to print this and put it in my Revit binder for the next time i forget this or some one asks the same question of me.

I was a BIG fan of ACA2008 (and becoming very good at also) then switched jobs and the are a Revit based office so i was very freaked out to have to learn a new program just when i started to get so good at another one. But like you said Dave this is supose to be the future and i need ot embrace change hahaha ugh!! SO here we go again starting all over.

I know this is not the proper forum for this question but while i have you... can anyone suggest the best way to learn the most about revit in the fastest amount of time b/c i need to learn but be as productive as possible for work.

Thanks

This place has some good, well priced tutorials:
http://www.cadclips.com/

This place has quite a few families:
http://www.revitcity.com

For me the best way to learn Revit is to do some tutorials first (the one included with Revit was good), then look in the help or in this forum whenever I have a question about how to do something. This forum will be very helpful in learning Revit. Good luck!
