I'm currently exploring fire ratings for my objects. I have developed filters + graphics for Fire Rating Plans (walls and doors) according to den EU specificated fire ratings, all good. But I would also like to add the fire rating on my floor objects for sections, schedules, ODBC export etc, but the parameter is not present here (as it is on doors and walls). The solution would be a Shared Parameter "Fire Rating - Floor". I know.. :) But it just dos'nt seem logical, to have to mix a system family parameter in one object family, with a Shared Parameter in another. I may for instance, want a schedule of all my object fire ratings, and would have to have both the system family parameter and my shared parameter just next to each other in the schedule.
Now before adding even more shared parameters, I'm just wondering.. Is it only me, who is missing Fire Rating as a default floor system family parameter? Or is floors not rated the same way in the US, as here in europe (denmark)? Is there another/better way to handle this?
Edit: I found what I was looking for, in this thread: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=70099
My soloution will be a Shared Instance Parameter called something like "Fire Rating Demand" and apply a "Fire Rating" "idendity data" type parameter where this might be needed (floors, closed stairs etc.)
But it would still be nice to have the parameter build in to other objects, so they would be in the same table in the database.. One can only dream.. :)
