Room area, show to 2 decimal places?

can this be done, as i at present it seems to be a fixed single number

Yes. Just set the project units (UN) (or Settings / Project Units), Area format and set the rounding to the number of decimals you want.

Also, make sure that your room tag family is set to use project settings for units.
You can check that editing the room tag family, selecting the area label and clicking on "Select Parameter". For the parameter "Area", make sure that under "Format" the "Use project settings" in marked.
