Hi,

I'm trying to create a cost schedule, the attached picture shows the work in progress. I've associated CSI Keynote numbers and entered the cost, and now I have two questions:

1. My concrete slab, foundation wall and precast panel wall - even though I've also given them keynote numbers - don't show up. Why?

2. Doors and windows have a 'per piece' price, whereas a concrete slab would have a 'per square foot' price. I created a Calculated Value in the schedule and wanted the formula to be "Cost*Area". It doesn't recognize Area as a field...so now what do I do? [Same applies for Volume when I need to calculate cost of e.g. foundation walls].

I've read through a lot of threads about scheduling and learnt a lot in the process, yet I'm still not able to figure this out on my own. Any help would be great,

thanks,
Axel

For Area you need to transform the area parameter in a number in order to multipliy by the cost.
= (Area / 1sf) * Cost

Hey Daniel,

I saw this type of formula on the older threads and tried it, but the problem is that I'm told by Revit that Area is not "a valid schedule field". It doesn't show up in the list of "Available Fields" for Multiple Category Schedule. Perhaps I'm using the wrong Schedule?

Well first, shouldnt you be using volume for concrete estimation?
Try using a Material Take off for estimation purpose.
See the attach example

Thanks Daniel,

Material Takeoff - that's where I turned the wrong way by using Schedule.

The Material Takeoff also shows all keynoted elements, and yes, the calculation is as easy as 1+1.

Merci beaucoup e bon fin de semaine,
Axel

thanks for the rvt file. That helped a great deal.
