This is my dilemma, I have created an image from USAPhotoMaps and want to bring into AutoCAD 3D. The image has a related .jgw file. In AutoCAD Map I was able to do it following these steps:
1. Create a Big JPEG file. (from USAPhotoMaps)
2. In AutoCAD Map. Go to the Map menu, select Tools and Assign Global Coordinate System. (CA83-VIF).
3. Go the the Map menu, select Image, select Insert, select the image file and OPEN.
4. An Image Insert Open pops-up. Click on the "Transform" Tab and enter Code UTM27-11.

And whoola the image would come in properly.

AutoCAD 3D is new to me and the options are not the same.

Can anyone give me some tips?

Tom

Use the Map (not AutoCAD) command for inserting (attaching) a raster image. The right command for georeferenced images is Map > Image > Insert (i.e. _MAPIINSERT), not Insert > Raster image (i.e. _IMAGE, or _IMAGEATTACH).

For AutoCAD use IMAGEATTACH.

Your drawing file needs to match projection systems with the projection of the image file. In my experience, Map 3D will not do a transformation on images, even though it has a transform tab.
