We are in the process of changing the way we do sections and callouts in revit. The new idea is to start at a very small scale and detail the entire building section to its entirety. (Minus dimensions and text). The original 1/8th scale cross sections would be made up of already developed groups (i.e. - for sills, window heads, parapet caps, etc). We are then going to fill in the rest of the wall sections with repeating details (i.e. insulation, brick, etc). Next we are going to group the all the detail groups and repeating details and lines that were needed to created a wall into another detail (essentially nesting detail groups). The idea is to copy these wall section and paste then into the 3/4 inch wall sections and the 1 1/2 inch callouts thus making detailing parametric. The use of inserted detail groups for sills, heads, etc also make it very parametric because if a parapet for instance needs to be constructed differently we simply edit the nested detail group of the parapet and everything in the entire project updates.
I think this is a good solution that we came up with by to make a short question long. Will all of these detail groups slow our project???
THANKS!!!
