Sheet Index (non revit drawings)

What is the best way to add drawing names & sheet numbers to the sheet index when the drawings are not part of the Revit Model.

Make placeholder sheets and type in the sheet name and number on the sheet to populate the schedule.

is there a way to add multiple sheets at once, cause that would take a while to add 40 or so sheets.

Unless the non-Revit sheets are interspersed among your Revit sheet numbers, I would probably just do the non-Revit sheets as a simple text object that matches the size and font of your Revit sheet list.

But if you use grid lines in your sheet list then you'll have to do placeholder sheets like Scott mentioned.

No you need to right click on Sheets in the Project Browser and select New Sheet. This takes about a second, so you are looking at about 40 seconds for 40 sheets.

Even faster, create a new keyboard shortcut for View>New >Sheet. I made mine NN. Type NN then hit Enter for the OK ok the dialog box, and repeat as fast as you can. I just created 40 sheets in under 20 seconds.

If they are in numerical order.....create the first sheet and change its sheet number to the first one in the sequence. From then on, each new sheet will automatically increase in numbering.

I suggest creating the sheets from the browser or with the keyboard shortcut, but then do the sheet title renaming in the index schedule where they are all listed. It will be easier.

Why not just click on Sheet under the View toolbar on the left? That would save a right-click per sheet.

Faster still...

Create one sheet and number it the way you want. Place no views on it. Select it in the Project Browser and use Right Click > Copy to Clipboard. Click in the Drawing Window (any where just move the focus from the Project Browser) and then use CTRL + V (Windows Paste shortcut), don't look for the Right Click option that you'd expect. Yes, you could just use CTRL + C to copy to clipboard instead.

This will create a new sheet based on the previous number quickly, as many times as you use CTRL + V (paste). Start the sequence with a new number and off you go. Faster than selecting the same sheet in the dialog over and over.

+1 for clicking the sheet button 20 times in rapid succession and then naming them in the schedule...

Then throwin a hissy fit when the consultants rename and renumber their sheets in the 11the hour, LOL!!! Persky engineers! :)
