Hi there,
not sure if this is the correct part of the forum for this post. Basically I'm pretty new to revit, I normally work in cad and 3ds/maya. I'm really impressed so far with the efficiency of the program but I have just stumbled across my first issue. Basically I have a spiral staircase and when I create a handrail to go up the stairs and around to create a landing rail, hosting it to the staircase, the landing section of the rail hovers above the floorlevel. Granted that this happens also when it is simply a stair handrail too I'm a little lost as to what I've done wrong, any idea?

You may just have to make the flat portion of the railing a separate railing element.

That is an option, however the below happens, I'm obviously doing something very wrong :(

Ah I see what's going on. This happens usually when you have your stair set to "End with Tread" instead of End with Riser. In your plan view, the sketch line for the railing going up the stairs probably extends to the very end of the stair sketch. Since the railing is always a certain height up from the tread nose, Revit extends that same slope up to the end of your stair. But since there is no riser at the end of the stair sketch, you end up with part of it floating.

You could probably make the whole railing with a single sketch, but try breaking the sketch line at the next to last riser line (which is really the top-most riser in your stair). Have a short line running along the top-most tread, and then the rest of the railing running along the edge of the upper slab.

That may or may not give you your intended result. You may have to play with it a bit more, and if needed, set that short sketch line at the top-most tread and the sketch line for the upper railing to be flat instead of sloped (pull down box up top that you see when you select a railing sketch line).
