Opaque Stair Tags

Is there a way to make the UP and DN stair and ramp tags be transparent (not opaque)? When our architectural model is linked into out structural model, the stair tags are masking out portions of beams. I've tried making arch stair tags transparent, but to no avail.

I've made the stairs transparent in the structural framing view and this makes the tag transparent. This works (at least for the view in question). I'm just wondering why stairs don't use a "label" that you can independently manipulate.
