decals

I am inserting a decal in a project and it says that is will only be visable in a rendered view. Is this new? I have placed them in drawings in the past and the are visable without rendering. anybody know?

Rendered only, I believe.

Images can be attached in a view and seen without rendering. The decal tool however has always required the view to be rendered in order to be seen.

I see. I check my older files and they were just .jpegs inserted in a view. I would of bet that I used the decal tool.
