Is there a way to create a Storefront or Curtain wall system with doors and save this as a wall family? I've created a simple storefront system, 15'-0" long with 5'-0" panels, and placed a double glass door in the center. I then select my storefront, right click create similar and it creates the original storefront without the door.

Where can I save the one I created with the door to be able to use it on other projects or in the same project without having to re-create it each time.

Probably a stupid question, but I can't figure out if I can achieve this.

Aracely,

Currently, the Curtainwall wall-type tool has only the ability to contain a single panel definition in its Properties. You have this in a pre-defined system, such as "Storefront", when you look in the Type Properties. However there isn't a way to 'store' the second panel information (ie. doors) anywhere in the definition itself. Revit would have no way to 'remember' that the door is supposed to be in the 5th panel on the first row, so to speak. (technically, you could have a definition with the door panel type, but all of them would be this type. Your CW could also be only one panel wide.... but i don't think this meets your intent.)

A work around for this could be to make a copy of the Curtain wall with the setup you describe in a separate, external file. To do this, do the following:

Select the overall definition of the Curtainwall with the doors in it. (you may need to window and select everything - it depends on how you made this.)
Select Group in the upper toolbar, turning this into a group.
Go to File > Save to Library > Save Group (navigate to where you want to save this RVT file.)
In a new project, go to File > Load from Library > load File as Group.
When prompted for 'Duplicate Types', click OK.
When prompted to treat as an Insert Group, click NO.
You may get a Warning saying your mullions are no longer Type Driven (meaning the pre-defined definition doesn't rule it anymore) - click on OK (this keeps your mullions.
The file is now loaded. In your Project Browser, navigate to the bottom to the Groups section.
Drag and Drop your new group into your project. You can either keep it as a group or Ungroup it (in the Options Bar).Hope this helps.

You can copy paste the wall into a new file and save that in your library

For these assemblies, in our office we Model Group the assembly, the Save the Group to File. Then we can load it in to other files as groups.

This way, if i have storefronts that repeat every structural bay, they all update like families. they work great, and i have a few hundred of them in each model of mine, and the performance has been awesome.
