Nested Family Length not showing up

I have created a beam that is made up of nested families and for some reason I can't get the length of those familes to show up in a project. The overall beam families length shows but not the independant lengths of each nested element. Is it possible to achieve this? I need it to create cutting lists.

If you set the nested Families to shared you should be able to schedule it
