How do I sign into a user group (?) & pick a cool icon to post messages?

You just select the forum you want to post a question to, hit the new thread button at the top, and type away.

I am not sure what you mean about the cool icon. If you clarify, we can help ya :)

I was under the impression that the member names are the email address name they signed up with. are the numbers not a part of your email address? if not, perhaps there are other sreed's in here?

oh, and as for the icons under the member names, you can change that by following the link on the left edge of that grey bar, Control panel (http://forums.augi.com/usercp.php?), then choosing the option edit avatar, and you can upload whatevery picture you want (there are filetype and size limitations).

it appears that the numbers (following my name) do not follow other member's namesThe number at the end of your name is your member id number. So you are the 62,331 person to join AUGI. Why some have it and others don't, I'm not sure. It might depend on when you signed up. Like before or after the witty worm attack?

At some point, we will have the option to change our user names. Right now, it is your email address, and I see that Glenn has solved the number issue :) I am guessing that you signed up recently (within the last few months).
