I recently received a new computer at work.
It has all the Microsoft programs loaded, and although I was hoping for ACAD 2008, It came loaded with ACAD 2005.
I tried looking under 'menuload' and even 'appload' but I can't seem to find my autocad express. Since this was loaded in our Texas office, Should I assume I need that original disk to load ACAD Express, or can any autocad disk I have up here load ACAD Express?

Hi Bill. Long time no see.
I'm almost certain that any A2005 cd will do. Run a Change/Repair installation to install ETs.

Hey there Jaber! thanx for the info, I thought I was going to wind up needing to use the disk.
I'll have to be Indiana Jones and search for our Acad 2005 disk in our storage/server room...
Thanks!

You tried typing EXPRESSMENU at the command line, right? If they're there, that'll load 'em
BTW, Hi Bill :)

My IT guys keep forgetting to load the express tools from the CD for each
new version.
I did manage to pull the express tools folder from 2007 and place it
in the 2008 directory. Not the updated tools, but still have the goodies.

Your IT guy needs to have you in the room when he builds the image. That way, everything is as is should be. Either that or tie him up and whip him with an ethernet cable. Your choice.

I thought the last couple of releases installed ETs by default?

They are supposed to, but it doesn't always happen. I always go in and double check to make sure express tools is selected to install.

I know when I built the image for ACA2008, we had to check the box.

that was the case for vanilla as well, when we set up our deploy, we had to check express tools to install as well. for a stand-alone, it installs automatically, when using the default install.

I guess that must be the answer - I only ever do stand-alone installations.

I just installed a stand alone trial at home yesterday, and I had to configure it and select express tools. Its was ACA though.
