When editing a Layer State (Layer State dialog->Edit..), I am sometimes unable to Thaw the Defpoints layer for a particular Layer State.

I have not figured out why, but I use quick workaround by deleting Defpoints layer from the Layer State, then adding it back to the Layer State (First Thaw Defpoints in Model space, and it retains that property when added to the Layer State).

The Defpoints objects in question are located in a client-based xref which I will not be editing, thus the need for a workaround. Yet another reason to avoid drawing on Defpoints layer.

It may have something to do with the layer state of layer 0. They are linked, and that may be causing your problem

I suspect that it might, though after some fiddling I still have not isolated the cause.

My typical Layer States all have layer 0 On and Thawed and set as the Current Layer.

I tried various combinations of Freeze/Thaw/On/Off for Layer 0, as well as setting other layers to Current within the Layer State and in Model Space. Still can't thaw Defpoints in a Layer State. Thankfully the delete/add workaround is effective.

Perhaps a diplomatic explanation of Layer do's and don'ts for the above mentioned client is in order. =)

Good luck with that :lol:

Hi!

Try this..(in Model Space)........ use QSELECT command :lol:

Apply to = Entire Drawing
Object Type = Multiple
Properties = Layer
operator (use = Equals)
Value = defpoints

then hit delete key!

then try to remove from the LA..
