Hello All,
I searched and found this thread back from January 2006...

According to this thread, we can not tag legend components within legend views.
Is this still the case for Revit 2008 or 2009?
Thanks in advance.
As far as I know this is still the case in 2008 and 2009. You have to remember that the legend view of components is a 2-d representation of the actual component you placed in you model. The legend components have no smart content to them and therefore cannot be tagged as objects.
When it comes to creating legends for objects I place components in a phase that follows all other phases in the project. This way the components will not be added to my schedules and counted as part of my current work. Because they are place in a model view, I now have full tagging abilities, I can create elevations and I can take advantage of model groups.

Hi Joe,
Does that mean for Partition Types Legend page, you take a live section of an actual wall element, that belongs to a future phase?

That is the idea, yes. Another reason I use this method is because you cannot place a detail number in the legend view detail title. I find this limiting when you have to refer back to a legend view on a particular sheet.

We do this as well. It also lets you dimension. Plus, none of the side effects of having unintelligent notes and/or tags.
The only downsides are if youre using an add on through the API that isnt "Revit phase aware" it may count those objects.
That, and everyone on the team must understand why the future phase exists, etc...
